Welcome to Week 0.

This course is for people who use Claude Code or Codex every day, and for people opening one of these tools for the first time.

If words like GitHub and MCP feel unfamiliar right now, that is completely fine. That is why Week 0 exists.

I recorded these four videos to make the first step feel a lot less intimidating. Take your time and pause whenever you need to. Follow along on your own computer, and come back to a video if something does not click the first time.

Claude Code is on screen in these recordings. If you want to use Codex, watch them too. The GitHub and MCP lessons apply to both tools. By the time Week 1 starts, we will all be working from the same foundation.

Take it one step at a time

1. Set up Claude Code

Watch Setting up Claude Code

Start with this video. I walk you through setting up Claude Code on your computer so the tool is ready before we talk about anything else. Pause whenever you need to. There is no prize for finishing quickly.

Here is the prompt I reference:

I need to install git so claude code can run on my computer. I am on a [mac or pc]. Walk me through step by step and assume I have never opened the terminal, know what a terminal is, installed homebrew, or anything. Do not show all the steps, go one by one and make sure I finish each step before telling me the next one

2. Claude Chat vs Claude Code

Watch Claude Chat vs Code

Now that Claude Code is set up, I will show you how it differs from the Claude chat window and why I recommend it for this course. The goal is to understand what changes when Claude can work inside real files and folders with you.

3. GitHub 101

Watch GitHub 101

GitHub can sound intimidating if you have never used it. You do not need to become a developer or memorize every button. This video gives you enough context to understand where a project's files and change history can live online, and why Claude Code or Codex may use it.

4. MCP 101

Watch MCP 101

MCP is another term that sounds more technical than it needs to. An MCP is a connector. It gives Claude a way to reach information in another tool instead of relying only on what you paste into the chat. After this video, you should understand what people mean when they say they are connecting an MCP.
